The Ministry of Education was established as a result of the 1944 Education Act and immediately set about publishing a series of pamphlets giving advice to schools and local education authorities on a wide range of subjects. The Ministry continued to publish pamphlets until 1964, when it was replaced by the Department of Education and Science (DES).

Pamphlets 24 and 25 Physical Education in the Primary School were different from the others in the series in several ways: they were prepared jointly by the Ministry and the Central Office of Information; they were published as hardback books; they were in landscape format (27 x 21 cm); and they contained hundreds of photographs and drawings.

They are presented here as two pdf files. In each case the text is copiable and searchable. As the text was created by optical character recognition (OCR) software, I cannot guarantee that copied text will be 100% accurate, though on the whole the software does seem to have done a good job.

My copy of Part 2 (the 1962 reprint) still had its dust jacket, which is shown above.
